Join Chef Harris as we show off a mix of the wonderful flavors we offer up north. On this tour, for the first time Chef Harris will finally introduce you to one of her favorite local home cooks. It’s been a long dream of hers to showcase cooks that specialize in north Louisiana cuisine. She believes that home cooking is the basis for all culinary genres including gourmet. This is especially true when it comes to north and south Louisiana cooking.
You will start the tour by sampling one or more dishes (and we hope more) by one of Cullen, Louisiana’s most talked about home cooks, Theresa Crow.
Afterwards, we will board a shuttle and continue throughout the city making a few more stops at some of Chef Harris' favorite spots serving up the best dishes Shreveport-Bossier has to offer. You will enjoy a sample of the most popular dish or beverage each stop has on their menu. Come with an empty stomach!
Chef Harris has single-handedly led the effort to celebrate the foods of north Louisiana’s waterways and farms by establishing the official meal of North Louisiana. It is only the second official meal in the United States and Chef Harris wrote it. Along with help from her State Representative Gene Reynolds, House Concurrent Resolution HCR No. 88 was passed by the Louisiana Legislature in 2015 celebrating north Louisiana cuisine.Chef Harris is originally from Minden, Louisiana and was recently named as one of Louisiana Life Magazine's Louisianians of the Year in 2017 and one of the Best Small Town Chefs of 2017 by Country Roads Magazine.
In addition to her food tours she also offers culinary experiences where guests can enjoy an authentic north Louisiana meal and cooking demonstration. For more information and to book your group, email email@example.com.
