Sno-Port is a new, interactive, winter-themed Sci-Port Discovery Center program celebrating the science and wonder of snowflakes. Visitors will experience eight hands-on activities and exhibits before heading into the Red River Rocket Ride inside of the planetarium. Admission to Sno-Port is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Sno-Port will open on Saturday, Nov. 30 and run through Thursday, Jan. 30.
Interactive games and activities at Sno-Port include Blizzard Tunnel, Make-A-Flake, Ice Fishing, Snow Chair Lift, Snowball Castle, There’s No Place Like Igloo, and Snowglobe Discovery. Once they have experienced the first half of Sno-Port, guests will then travel into Sci-Port's planetarium to take an interactive virtual reality ride on the Red River Rocket Sled. Guests will feel the excitement of take-off and the sensation of cool wind on their faces as they trek their way through a virtual snow blizzard in downtown Shreveport and Bossier City.
Each activity demonstrates many different fields of science, including geoscience, biology, physics, mathematics, architecture, engineering, computer science, and chemistry, all which directly relate to the new educational emphasis on the promotion of S.T.E.M. in American education.
