R & R with History: I'll Be Seeing You...America and World War II

The Bossier Parish Libraries History Center would like to welcome back another R&R (Read and React) with History series, I’ll Be Seeing You. . . America and World War II on Monday evenings, Feb. 25, 2019-Mar. 25, 2019, 6:00 p.m.

This five-week series is led by Louisiana Tech University Professor of History emeritus Dr. Stephen Webre. Dr. Webre will introduce the readings and lead discussions that examine how Americans waged total war for human rights using an arsenal of new weapons and combat tactics that still shape the world today.

Readers will examine the nature of the war as fought on the high seas of the Pacific and the plains of Europe, with the included perspective of America’s principal opponents. The main titles covered will be:

The Mighty Eighth: The Air War in Europe As Told by the Men Who Fought It by Gerald Astor

Voices from the Third Reich: An Oral History by Johannes Steinhoff, ed.

Double Victory: A Multicultural History of America in World War II by Ronald Takaki
