Mahogany Ensemble Theatre's Women's History Month play "American Menu" by Don Wilson Glenn concerns five black restaurant workers in the kitchen of a “whites only” Texas diner. It's May 1968, between the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, the air is fraught with momentous events--national, local and personal. The play reminds us that, just like soul food, African Americans are part of the American menu, too.
Directors Robert Alford and Angelique Feaster Evans, have assembled an award-winning ensemble cast for this National Women's History Month production.
This production features an opening night reception and special artist talk with the director Don Wilson Glenn.
