Have you ever seen a blacksmith work his craft? Have you ever wondered how doctors performed surgery 100 years ago? Have you ever seen a potter throw clay? You can see all this and more at the LSUS Pioneer Heritage Center's Annual Pioneer Day, Saturday, October 20, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $2 per person.

The Pioneer Heritage Center gives insight into the intimate home life of the settlers and the natural environment in which they struggled to survive. Do not expect to see "history under glass." This is a regional "history laboratory" where you can see how the pioneers built their first homes, clothed and fed their families, how they coped with sickness and hardship, and how their diverse beliefs and customs contributed to the cultural mosaic that is Louisiana.

For more information please call the Pioneer Heritage Center office at (318) 797-5339 or email Marty Young, Director of the Center at with the subject line as (Pioneer Day).

Location: LSUS Campus - the grounds of the Pioneer Heritage Center
