The Krewe of Centaur Mardi Gras Parade will begin on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport on Saturday, February 11 at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
One of the largest parades in Louisiana, the Krewe of Centaur rolls 10 days before Fat Tuesday, featuring marching bands, brightly colored floats and more. The Krewe of Centaur was named after the mythological half-man half-horse in recognition of the horseracing and gaming industry in Northwest Louisiana. Motivated by their organizational goals of building a better community and the pursuit of good family fun, the krewe has grown since its inception in 1991 to become the largest parade in the Ark-La-Tex. They are considered one of the largest, single parading Krewes in the state of Louisiana, including New Orleans.
This year’s theme is “A Million Dreams.”
