Funnyman Eddie Griffin has built an ever-growing fan base since jumping onto the comedy scene in 1990, and now he’s bringing his stand-up show to Margaritaville Bossier City on September 20.
Starting his career on-stage as a dare, Griffin has become a popular comedian and actor featured in over 45 notable films and television shows. Most recently starring alongside Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born, Griffin began his career with appearances on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam in 1992, the Cable Ace Award-nominated HBO special One Night Stand in 1992, the HBO special Voodoo Child in 1997 and onstage at the legendary Apollo Theater. He also recorded the successful comedy albums Message in The Hat and The Message featuring comedic and musical performances by Griffin as well as Master P, Silkk the Shocker, and Fiend.
Branching into acting, Griffin’s roles in films such as The Last Boy Scout, Coneheads, and Jason’s Lyric soon led to his hit comedy series Malcolm and Eddie, for which he was nominated and won the NAACP Image Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. In addition to acting in this sitcom, he also wrote and directed four episodes, one of which starred Richard Pryor.
Afterward, he was offered a lead role in Double Take with Orlando Jones. Griffin then starred alongside Denzel Washington in John Q, earning him respect as a dramatic actor. Mr. Griffin’s extensive film resume includes films such as Armageddon and the worldwide successful comedy franchise Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, as well as Date Movie, Scary Movie 3, and My Baby’s Daddy, which he starred, wrote and Executive Produced for Miramax.
