The American Rose Center will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt & Ladybug Release on Saturday, April 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Shreveport. (The rain date is Sunday, April 2, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.) The day will feature Easter-themed games with prizes for small children to play, new games and relays for bigger children (cornhole, egg in spoon races) and face painting. Children can plant a sunflower to take home, do a nature scavenger hunt, and create art on our sidewalks. There will also be additional activities and information for guests. Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. and cost is $10 per person or $25 per carload.
Prizes will be awarded to the children finding the Silver and Gold eggs in each age category. There will be 10,000 eggs hidden in the four age categories. Hunt times are as follows:
• Ages 1-2, 11:00 a.m.
• Ages 3-4, 11:30 a.m.
• Ladybug Release 12:00 p.m.
• Ages 5-7, 1:00 p.m.
• Ages 8-10, 1:30 p.m.
The festival ends at 2:00 p.m. and the park will remain open until 5:00 p.m.
Children will be invited to help release 27,000 environmentally-friendly ladybugs into the gardens to help protect our roses from harmful insects.
Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available for $10 each and rides on the Roseland Express will be $5. We will also offer roasted marshmallows for $2. Concessions will be available for purchase on the grounds from the LJ Catering offering hot dogs, corn dogs and funnel cakes. We appreciate our partners: Learning RX, Sci-Port Discovery Center and the Town of Greenwood.
