Shreveport-Bossier COVID-19 update: Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has instituted a gradual reopening of many businesses with occupancy restrictions, enhanced sanitation, social distancing, personal protection equipment and other appropriate protection measures necessary to protect the health and safety of the people in Louisiana.  The statewide mask mandate has been lifted. However, mask policies in Louisiana will be set by local leaders and business owners. Under the Governor’s new public health order, masks will still be required on public transit and in state government buildings, K-12 schools, early childhood education centers, colleges and universities, and healthcare facilities. Before you visit a business, please call to confirm that they are open, and to find out what restrictions are being enforced at that location.

ARTini 2021: Pop Art Edition

June 12, 2021

ARTini celebrates various forms of creative expression and encompasses the culinary, musical, and visual arts. The excitement about ARTini 2021 is "popping" up everywhere!

Join us this year as we take on a brand new venue and a brand new theme, Saturday, May 12 at Sci-Port Discovery Center. We will shake in a little imagination, stir in a lot of creativity, and mix in some friendly competition. This years event will feature the art of Lauren Ross Simmons, winner of SB Magazine’s 2018 Best Artist and three-time, award-winning Revel artist. Lauren is a local pop artist and business woman.

Besides being the mother to Hudson, the cutest boy ever born, and the wife to a handsome picker, she is a PROUD Louisiana born artist, and Shreveport resident. She taught theatre for 17 years, traveled with the circus and Hello Kitty, treated her eyes to incredible beauty all around the globe, and has now gone back to her “roots” – the South and her art.

Music by- What the Funk? (WTF?!) is a versatile group of talented and professional musicians based in Shreveport, who’s always down to get the party started. Specializing in Top 40, Rock, “Old School” R&B, ‘80’s, Funk and Soul cover tunes, WTF will surely get your feet tappin’ and the dance floor hoppin’. Whether it’s a soulful ballad, fist pumping rock anthem, or an upbeat party hit, What the Funk is guaranteed to deliver!

What is ARTini?

In simple terms, it’s a fundraiser. But honestly, it’s a lot more. ARTini celebrates various forms of creative expression and encompasses the culinary, musical, and visual arts by having local mixologists create signature martinis and compete for for the coveted title of “Judges Choice,” “People’s Choice,” and “Most M’artisanal.”
.
Where do funds raised by ARTini go? The funds go to support the Bossier Arts Council and all of the programming and outreach projects for the entire year. Tickets include entrance to the event, a hand-painted martini glass, live music, delicious food, and over 20 different martinis.
