Forty-five of the best balloon pilots in the country will be on hand for the 2017 U.S. Hot Air Balloon Championships, July 11-16. Daily competition flights will take off at 6:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 a.m. Spectators can view the balloons up close on Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15, starting at 7 a.m. on the campus of LSU-S for a balloon target competition. Admission is free those mornings. Bring your lawn chairs. There will also be an outdoor church service on Sunday morning.
The competition will end with the Red River Balloon Rally, a two-day festival and balloon glow on the campus of LSU-S. There will be tethered hot air ballon rides, kid zone, food booths and live music.
