Summer Tea Series at CoHab

August 6, 2017

Learn all about tea and how to brew your own "gongfu" style on Sunday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. at CoHab in downtown Shreveport. Walk away from this event having sampled two unique teas in your own "easy gaiwan" brewing pot that you get to take home, as well as a double-walled glass tasting cup. Tea educator Garrett Johnson will give you a crash course in the science and history behind the tea plant - camellia sinensis - and how to brew a great up. This is a laid back event, perfect for beginners.

Garrett Johnson developed Shreveport Tea in 2013 as a 10-part series of presentations and tastings to expose friends and strangers to an ancient and often misunderstood beverage made from thetea plant camellia sinensis. Through self-described "punk rock tea sessions" Garrett helps to present the art, science and history of tea in an approachable and beginner friendly format. Drinking and learning about tea is a hobby that Garrett also shares with his family, who have traveled to India, China, and Taiwan on tea tours.

No fancy plates - no pinkies up - no scones - no pan flutes. Just tea.
