In observance of National Astronomy Day, the Shreveport-Bossier Astronomical Society, Inc. will host a solar observing event at LSUS near the Science Building from noon until 2 p.m. (weather permitting). That evening, the Society will host a public event night at the Shreveport Observatory south of town to view the moon and Jupiter through various telescopes. The Observatory is located 8 miles south of Shreveport, Louisiana on Hwy. 175. If cloudy, the public will be able to tour the Observatory and hear presentations. The public will also be able to view photographs taken by members of the Society and see the various telescopes.
