Music Prize, an independent music festival and competition held in downtown Shreveport, LA, will host its fifth annual event, Oct. 5-7, 2017. Following a sold-out event in 2016, Music Prize organizers have announced that four local bands and eight national bands will perform at the 2017 event. Music prize festivities will begin with the Locals Only Showcase held at Voodoo Café, 622 Commerce Street, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5. Four local bands – Rella, Ricky Latt, Star Chamber and The Wall Chargers – will compete for a place in the Friday night music showcase alongside Atlanta’s Larkin Poe and 2016’s Music Prize winner, The Bristol Hills. The Friday, Oct. 6 showcase will take place at 8 p.m. at 700 Texas Street in downtown Shreveport. On Saturday night, Music Prize attendees will get an up close and personal experience with Music Prize headliner and New Orleans pop sensation, Royal Teeth (pictured). Bonnaroo 2017 breakout performer Walker Lukens (Austin, TX) will also perform on Saturday night with The Belle Game (Vancouver), *Repeat Repeat (Nashville, TN) and others. Saturday night’s main event will begin at 7 p.m. at 700 Texas Street.
Tickets start at $40 for the entire weekend. All-access wristbands are also available for $75. The Locals Only Showcase is limited to ages 21 and up, but Friday and Saturday night’s mainstage events are open to all ages. For schedule information or to purchase tickets, visit www.PrizeFest.org.
