Have you ever thought about becoming a living history volunteer or reenactor? Mansfield State Historic Site is looking for a few costumed living history volunteers to help with programs throughout the year! On Saturday, Sept. 16, site staff will introduce you to the world of Reenacting and Volunteerism. Participants will learn about the uniforms, military drills, how to cook over an open flame, and how to fire the weapons of the era. At the conclusion of the program you will be ready to be a Louisiana State Parks Black Powder Volunteer.
This event is open to those over the age of 16. There are 8 slots available for this program and pre-registration is required by Saturday, Sept. 9. Call the park at 318-872-1474 to reserve your slot. Those taking part in the program will need to wear closed-toe leather shoes or boots and be willing to wear the historic wool clothing of the era. A period meal will be provided.This is an outdoor
